4. HOW TO OBTAIN A VENDOR

If you are starting Dropshipping without an initial investment, begin with vendors such as AliExpress, or CJ Dropshipping. However, if you are starting an online business and you do have working capital put aside for the initial investment there are certain steps that you must complete in order to obtain your "dream" vendor. Follow each step precisely and you will find the perfect vendor for your new business.

Start by paraphrasing: My name is (Insert), I am the owner of (DBA Name) and I would like to obtain your company as a vendor for my business. (Brief, but detailed description of your business). Share your contact information here. Let the vendor know when the best time is to contact you and request pictures of their products and pricing here. Also, find out what their payment options are as well as their quantity requirement if any.

  1. Begin by sharing your information with the vendor company such as your website, social media, and DBA name. Vendors need this information in order to verify you are in fact a business and not an individual simply trying to shop for yourself.
  2. Many vendors require proof of your merchant license, or business registration. If you are trying to obtain a vendor that requires this information, reference to the section 3. titled, "Register for Merchant Certificate" to learn more on how to register as a merchant.
  3. Many vendors don't provide their wholesale prices on their website as it is only available to approved sellers. You must contact the vendor via email for pricing information.
  4. Always follow up after sending an inquiry. You want to show that you are in fact serious about landing them as a vendor for your business.
  5. Review their FAQs, shipping policies, refund policies, and terms of service.
  6. You should be contacted within the week to find out if you can move forward with the company.

Follow these steps and you will obtain a new vendor in no time.
